What Our Pool Demolition Includes
A pool removal is more than breaking concrete. Drainage, access, backfill material and compaction all affect how the ground performs for years afterwards. Our service covers everything from the first site visit to the final levelled surface, with a clear plan for the pool shell, surrounding structures and the future use of the area.
Concrete Pool Removal
In-ground concrete and gunite pools are broken out with excavator-mounted breakers, the reinforcing steel separated and the rubble removed or reused as approved fill. Full removal takes out the entire shell, giving you unrestricted ground that can be built on later without concerns about buried concrete underneath new foundations.
Fibreglass Pool Removal
Fibreglass shells are cut into sections and lifted out, often more quickly than concrete pools. We remove the surrounding coping and bedding materials, then excavate any unsuitable fill beneath. Once the hole is clear, it is backfilled and compacted in layers so the ground is stable and ready for lawn or paving.
Partial Removal & Fill-In
For a lower-cost option, the top section of the pool is broken down, the floor is broken up to allow drainage and the shell is filled with clean material. This suits areas that will be lawn or garden. We explain the limitations for future building so you can make an informed decision.
Draining & Disconnection
Before demolition begins, we drain the pool responsibly and disconnect pumps, filters, heaters and electrical supply through licensed trades. Pool water should not be dumped into the stormwater system while it contains chlorine, so we plan discharge carefully and follow local guidance to avoid environmental harm.
Backfill & Compaction
Proper backfill prevents settling and soft spots. We place suitable hardfill and soil in layers and compact each one with rollers or plate compactors. On Waikato ash, clay or peat soils, drainage and compaction need extra care. Topsoil is finished last so grass or garden beds can establish well.
Surrounds & Site Clean-Up
Pool fencing, decking, paving, pool sheds and old pump housings are removed as part of the job if required. Materials are sorted for recycling, and we protect neighbouring fences, lawns and paths during machine access. When we leave, the area is levelled, tidy and ready for your next landscaping or building project.
Machine Access Planning
Most backyard pools sit behind the house, so getting machinery in is often the biggest challenge. We assess side access, fence lines and overhead lines, then choose compact excavators and tracked dumpers that fit. Where needed we temporarily remove fence panels and lay ground protection, then reinstate everything once the pool is gone.
Lawn And Landscape Reinstatement
Once the pool is filled and compacted, we finish the area to suit how you want to use it. That can mean spreading quality topsoil and sowing new lawn, forming garden beds or preparing a base for paving or a concrete patio. The result is a finished outdoor space rather than a patch of bare dirt.
