Civil Works Contractors In Hamilton

Every new subdivision, commercial yard or building platform depends on the civil works beneath it. Our civil works services in Hamilton and the Waikato cover the ground engineering that turns a bare site into a serviced, buildable property: earthworks, stormwater and wastewater drainage, water supply, power and telecommunications ducting, roading, kerbs and hardstands. We work for developers, landowners, builders and main contractors on projects ranging from two-lot residential subdivisions to large commercial sites.

Because we also carry out demolition, site clearing and excavation, one crew can take a project from an old house on the land to a completed civil package ready for building consent or Section 224 sign-off. We build to approved engineering plans and council standards, keep accurate as-built records and coordinate with engineers, surveyors and network owners. That gives you one contractor, a clear programme and fewer handovers between trades.

Capability

Civil Works Services in Hamilton

Civil projects involve many separate tasks that all have to fit together in the right order. We plan the sequence, supply the machinery and operators, and deliver each stage to the standards your engineer and council expect, so the site moves smoothly from clearance through to completion.

Subdivision Civil Works

For residential and lifestyle subdivisions we form lots and accessways, install the drainage and services each lot needs, and build the roads, kerbs and footpaths shown on the approved plans. Work is staged to suit your programme, so lots can reach title as quickly as possible.

Bulk Earthworks

Topsoil is stripped and stockpiled, then the site is cut, filled and compacted to the design levels. On Waikato ash, clay and peat soils we work closely with your geotechnical engineer, undercutting soft ground where needed and compacting in layers so the finished platforms meet specification.

Stormwater & Wastewater

Gravity pipelines, manholes, sumps, soakage and connections are laid to the correct grade and depth, then bedded and backfilled to council standards. We install private drainage as well as public infrastructure that will be vested in council, and we can arrange CCTV inspection and testing for sign-off.

Water Supply & Utility Ducting

Water mains, rider mains, service connections and ducts for power and telecommunications are installed in shared trenches where possible to save time and cost. We coordinate with network owners and their approved designers so every service is in the right place before roads and hardstands go down.

Roading & Pavements

Subgrade preparation, basecourse, kerb and channel, and the pavement surface are built to the approved design. Proper drainage and compaction beneath the surface give roads, accessways and car parks the strength to carry traffic for years without settling or rutting.

Hardstands & Commercial Yards

Industrial yards, truck aprons, storage areas and building platforms are formed with engineered fill and compacted basecourse, ready for concrete, asphalt or chip seal. We include drainage falls and stormwater collection so the finished surface sheds water and stays serviceable.

Erosion & Sediment Control

Silt fences, clean-water diversions, stabilised entrances and sediment retention ponds are installed before major earthworks begin and maintained throughout the job. Good controls protect Waikato waterways, keep the site compliant with consent conditions and reduce clean-up after heavy rain.

As-Builts & Section 224 Support

We keep records of pipe positions, depths, test results and material sources as the work progresses. This information supports your engineer and surveyor when preparing as-built plans and completion documents, helping your project move through council sign-off and Section 224 certification without delays.

Why Hamilton Demolition

Benefits of One Contractor for Your Civil Works

Civil projects slow down at the handovers: the demolition crew leaves, the earthworks contractor arrives, then the drainlayer, then the roading crew. Because our team covers demolition, site clearing, earthworks, drainage, services and roading, the same operators carry the job from an old building on the land to finished lots or a completed yard. Levels, service corridors and stockpiles are planned once for the whole site, and your engineer has one contact who knows every stage of the work.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does civil works include?
Civil works covers the engineering groundwork that prepares land for building and use. That usually includes earthworks, stormwater and wastewater drainage, water supply, power and telecommunications ducting, roading, kerb and channel, footpaths, hardstands and erosion and sediment control. The exact scope is set by your engineering plans and consent conditions.
Do you work on small subdivisions as well as large projects?
Yes. We regularly complete civil works for two and three-lot infill subdivisions in Hamilton, as well as larger residential and commercial developments across the Waikato. Smaller projects get the same planning, compliance and record keeping as large ones, scaled to suit the size of the job and your budget.
Can you work from my engineer’s plans?
Yes. We build to approved engineering drawings and specifications, and we work with your engineer, surveyor and geotechnical consultant throughout the project. If we see a practical issue or a way to save time or cost on site, we raise it with the design team before work proceeds so any change is approved properly.
How long do civil works take for a subdivision?
Timing depends on the number of lots, the length of new roads and services, ground conditions and the season. A small infill subdivision might take a few weeks, while larger developments are staged over several months. Wet Waikato winters can limit earthworks, so we plan programmes around the weather and the earthworks season set in your consent.
Can you also demolish existing buildings before civil works?
Yes. Because we are a demolition and earthmoving contractor, we can remove existing houses, sheds, concrete and vegetation before starting the civil works. Having one company handle the whole sequence avoids gaps between contractors, keeps the site safe and gives you a single point of contact from clearance to completion.
